SCULPTURE CROIX II
[PASCALE ZINTZEN]
Glazed stoneware vase. One-of-a-kind piece. Each piece is hand-assembled, crafted from high-temperature-fired stoneware, and decorated with an experimental glaze, applied in response to the emotion inspired by the piece, the moment, and the series to which each belongs. This process allows for a degree of randomness within a process otherwise controlled by the artist’s hands.
The earth thinks and remembers. Through Pascale Zintzen’s hands and experience, it speaks. Her hands and emotions become one, a union of clay and gesture. The artist champions a “poor art,” enriched by the wild pigments she gathers, time accumulated, the joy of childhood, and the Mediterranean atmosphere that surrounds her.
Pascale Zintzen is the founder of Oikos Estudio. A multidisciplinary artist, she is based in Barcelona and the Baix Ebre region of Spain, where she lives with her two children and her dog. She expresses herself through various techniques and materials, including ceramics, tapestry, painting, and lime. Her inspiration draws from nature and ancestral objects designed for the home. Pascale creates pieces at the intersection of functional art and sculpture. Her artistic vocabulary is rooted in her background as an archaeologist specializing in domestic ceramics.
