Carved bench made of charred maritime pine, boxwood, and chestnut. One-of-a-kind piece.
Victor Giannotta warmly invites each branch to take its place at his table. Like members of a talkative and complex family, the figures he carves become bowls, leaves, chairs, or mobiles. Whatever their function, they must be alive and pay homage to the tree they once were. The wood softens under Victor’s tools. Influenced by a trip to Japan, he strives to make each of his gestures perceptible and to pay special attention to every object. The tools he uses are archaic, their function perfectly mastered to harmonize with his movements: measured and precise. All his work invites us to take shape and to poetically inhabit our home, our being, and our world.
